When deciding upon a screen to purchase there are a couple of factors you need to take into consideration. For example, the size of the screen, whether you want/need manual or motorized, the format 4:3, 16:9 or square etc.

Types of Projection Screens

There are four main categories of projection screens:

• Electric
• Manual
• Portable
• Fixed Frame

Within these four categories there are a couple of subcategories:

• Front Projection
• Rear Projection

From there you can once again subdivide projection screens into viewing formats:

• Square Format
• Video Format
• High Definition Format

Choosing a Manufacturer

Da-Lite and Draper are by far the biggest most recognizable manufacturers of projection screens. You really can't go wrong when choosing either of these two. However, that does not mean that Elite is out of the running. These guys produce a very comparable product with some great prices especially in the area of electric/motorized screens. Each Elite electric/motorized screen comes with an IR remote as a standard feature!
